ORPINGTON STUDENT GETS CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY OFFER

One of our students, Timothy Lobban, has received an unconditional offer to Cambridge after achieving three A’s at A Level.

Timothy grew up in Catford and attended Malory School, which although since becoming part of the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation has trebed its number of passes, at the time of starting his GCSE’s, 6% of students were achieving 5 A-C grades. He achieved enough C Level grades at GCSE to allow him to study for his A Levels. The decision to study in Orpington was taken as he wanted to be further away from his school and area, removing himself from negative distractions. ““I needed a fresh start with a new attitude and work ethic. Orpington College offered to give you your own space and independence which I think empowers you as a student”.

“With the excellent support and provision given to me by my College and more specifically my college lecturers, I was able to turn around the previous handicap I had because of my GCSEs and do well in my A-levels.”

Timothy will begin his degree at Cambridge in October 2010, where he will be studying Land Economy, which is a combination of Law, Economics and the Environment.
