Ian Wooten receives his award from Bromley Mayor

Ian Wootten was nominated for this award after he successfully completed the FA Coaching Level 2 award at Orpington College.
He had been unemployed for 7 years before completing this course after he sustained a back injury. Ian successfully completed the Level 2 Football Coaching course and has now set up his own Football Coaching Company called Pro Stars Football School which has a specialist pre-school programme, organises children’s birthday parties and coaches children of all ages either one to one or team coaching.

The football school also has a website www.prostarsfootball.co.uk which has more information about the company.  Ian was presented with this award at the Bromley Lifelong learning awards in May 2008.

Jacqueline PilcherName: Jacqueline Pilcher
Course: Counselling Studies Level 3 (CST-L3)

Why did you choose the course?
I chose this course as a natural progression because I had recently completed the Counselling Skills Course Level 2 (CSK-L2).  It was also important to me that the course is BACP accredited.

Why did you choose Orpington College?
Orpington College was the only place to offer this course on a 16 week basis because it offers 2 sessions a week. At many other institutions the course can take an academic year to complete.  Also, I was very impressed with the level of teaching and support on my previous Level 2 course and I would therefore not have considered anywhere other than Orpington College to complete the Level 3.

What are your aims or ambitions for the future?
I would like to continue on to the Foundation Degree Course in September.

Name: Bimla Photay
Course: Dental Nursing

Why did you choose this course?
I work in a dental practice and legislation has changed so that all dental nurses must be registered in order to work.

Why Orpington College?
I chose Orpington because we have sent students in the past they’ve all done really well.

How has the course benefited you?
It has given me a better understanding of what is required from a student perspective so that will help me support other students within our practice. It has brought me up to date with current legislation and given me a better understanding and awareness of the qualities required of a dental nurse.I would definitely recommend this course to anyone wishing to become a dental nurse.
