UPDATE ON MERGER WITH BROMLEY COLLEGE

On 16th October 2009, the Bromley and Orpington members of the Joint Steering Group concluded that current political uncertainties, together with the lack of funding to support the costs of merger, meant that proceeding with merger now was not a prudent course for either College.

“Governors believe that although a merger of Orpington and Bromley Colleges would offer increased opportunities for students and employers and would benefit both Colleges, the current political and financial uncertainties pose too great a risk to proceed at this time.”

Our two Colleges are benefiting significantly from closer working and wish to look at ways in which we can continue to collaborate to benefit our local learners, employers and communities.
